I left my contract position with SAIC in good­standing, and decided on a hiatus, for rest and recuperation after
being deployed overseas 5+ years in military and contract positions. During this break, I achieved personal goals
of exploring Brazil’s cities, culture, and language. I was also able to re­connect with family and friends I had not
seen for years during my deployed life. To maintain market relevancy I completed the following:
● Planned for future advanced learning, by building a full 7 foot commercial­grade networking rack, utilizing 13 Routers, 7
switches, a RAID 5, 24 Terabyte storage array, and RAID 50, 2.5 Terabyte, Dell R610 rack­server running Hyper­V and
VMWare software, allowing me to pursue continuing server education at home, and advanced networking education
practice, to the CCNP, and up to the CCIE level on my off­time.
● In addition to my home lab, I studied for newly redesigned industry standard certifications, renewing my CompTia
Security+ certification, and achieving a CCNA R&S, and CCNA Security certification for 2013, Microsoft’s MCSA for
Server 2012, and MCSE for Server Infrastructure, to remain both up­to­date in technology, and employability.

● Completed a complex coordination and scheduled the relocation of primary biometrics operations facility while
maintaining a functional continuity of operations (COOP) backup location of all Bagram biometrics servers and databases
without losing match capability in the process.
● Created processes for tracking technical, configuration, and procedural change via a Change Management system that had
not been in wide use. Tracked complex changes through the strict adherence to Configuration Control Board (CCB) and
including all interested parties in design and process changes.
● Obtained dedicated biometrics network IP space for all biometrics presence locations in Afghanistan, giving substantial
flexibility, and growth potential of biometrics operations in Afghanistan.
● Provided Network and Systems engineer roles, to maintain on­site capability redundancy and functional overlap of Lead
Systems Engineer position during emergency, leave/R&R, and mission travel absences, etc.
● Worked with military to transport biometrics data in customized fashions to meet US/Coalition force requirements
● Developed directly with Biometrics Enterprise Manager a customized complex biometrics database synchronization
process to fit the unique network conditions of each remote, forward operating location while increasing enterprise­wide
database synchronization. This resulted in increased match­times. I standardized the concept in flow­chart + diagramed
templates to allow for easier understanding, and implementation by both biometrics systems//network engineers and
management personnel.

● Maintained & supported TBS & TF Biometrics networks in Afghanistan.
● Provided troubleshooting, design assistance, and advice to supporting military J6 systems and network personnel.
● Monitored, and advised military command of TF Biometrics network requirements, and worked to solve related problems
over both secure & non­secure WANs and LANs.

● Monitored, analyzed, and policed SIPRnet / NIPRnet bandwidth to keep control of mission­critical biometric data flow,
and not interrupt competing mission­critical traffic.
● Personally saw that Task Force Biometrics data be handled with priority in a “mission critical queue” with 40%
bandwidth allocation split among other mission critical services to separate it from non­mission­critical traffic in the
entire afghan theater on SIPRnet.
● Identified problems with QOS (Quality of Service) implementation for biometrics data, and other theater data, resulting in
significantly improved bandwidth utilization for all mission critical systems in Afghanistan on SIPRnet.
● Remotely managed and monitored biometrics servers theater­wide.
● Reduced theater footprint by 80%, simultaneously increasing transfer speeds by continually re­directing biometrics server
synchronizations to match its physical layout as to eliminate redundant data transmission, and bandwidth usage.
